How to Remove/Replace Chinese VRoot superuser with SuperSu

If you was one of those who root their devices by using VRoot method and would like to remove Chinese superuser and related files, you can replace Chinese superuser with the well known SuperSU.
I have made a small script to completely remove Chinese superuser, all related files and folders, install SuperSU and disable annoying KNOX  notification.
This script will do all the work for you without using PC, just by terminal.
First of all, thanks to chainfire for his SuperSU files.

Before starting :
  • Root your device by using VRoot method
  • Download and install Terminal emulator app
  • Download and unzip "Replace_VRoot_With_SuperSU.zip" file
Steps :
  • Send the extracted folder "mrw" to the internal storage of your device and make sure that this folder contains 5 files
  • Open Terminal emulator and type :
Su
  • Allow root permission
  • Type :
sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
  • Don't be worry if it display more FC, after that your device will reboot
Done !
Notes :
  • The extracted folder must be in /Phone/ or you will need to change cmd.
  • It won't delete your apps or files, but I recommend to backup your important data first, just in case of this process corrupt your data.
  • I have tested it on my galaxy S4 GT-I9505, it must work for galaxy note3 and all devices.
  • Use it at your own risk.
  • You might need to update SuperSu after rebooting your device.
  • Please let me know the model of your device, if it worked for you
  • 28-Jun-14 : upload new version to fix issue for non Samsung devices and delete more VRoot folders and files.
  • 29-Jan-15 : new version thanks to @hunktb.

  2. Thank you very much. The method worked smoothly.

Just for the record, and you may want to share this information with your visitors. After finishing all the steps and rooting your phone. It is very wise to uninstall VRoot from your PC. I recommend using IObit Uninstaller 3. if VRoot uninstalled by the regular way through widnows, it leaves lot of registry keys on your pc that tries to open different ports as it shows on the attached file. IObit Uninstaller 3 will ensure that all related keys and other system files are totally removed. I am not going to share the link of the application, but you can safely google the name and read many reviews on PCWorld and PCMagz regarding the application (Its free). You can use any other Uninstaller application that you trust but is capable of completely remove the application from your pc along with all the keys and system files.

  10. This is the most bizarre root I have ever done on a device. After running /mrw/root.sh I actually had to reinstall SuperSu through google play store. And this time it actually updated and worked. Thank you so much. I now have a completely working root on a really cheap phone alcatel onetouch evolve 5020t.

  33. It doesn't work on Lenovo A859. Although the script replaces the Superuser app with SuperSU, SuperSU itself is not able to update su binary. When it tries, it fails & then unroots the phone. Please help

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't have to do this. I just downloaded the most recent version of SuperSU (v1.94) and installed it. The Chinese SU asked if I wanted to grant su to SuperSU, which I did. During the install, SuperSU detected the other su app and asked if I wanted to remove it. I answered yes, reboot, and bingo the Chinese su app is history. There was one other Chinese app Vroot installed, but that's just a standard uninstall.

  39. Hi would you know if this would work on a tablet I bought from Amazon? Here are the specifics. I ran root checker (several different apps from google) and it says device is not rooted. After exploring several different "auto" apps and manually trying to delete su files I opened files and saw them in Chinese and found your post. I am green but not so green now and read your instructions but I am afraid of getting to a part of instructions and it not matching the tutorial and having to wing it (emulator app link). My ultimate goal is to have the BHTV app work.Silly as that may sound. I tried different booted (?) versions of the app and those versions will not load channels. Here is/are my device's techs from the About Tablet screen:Processor DualCore-A23/Model Number GT90H/Android version 4.2.2/Firmware v2.0.9/Kernal Version 3.4.39 android 5@linux2#90 Mon Jan6 10.10.19 CST 2014/Build Number Polaris-eng 4.2.2 808920140106 test-keys. Thank You

  40. It must be working for all android devices now (V2)

    ReplyDelete
  41. okay just to be clear. The V2 file was not the problem. I downloaded the emulator and typed in what you posted and it responded file not found/valid command etc. I tried su and Su and then SU. I tried entering the whole string as one command and that didn't work. As I said in my first post I feel I am missing a step? so if you want to post screen shots or baby steps that would be good if not thank you anyway.

  56. Mr. W0lf, Worked on Samsung GT-I9063T rooted with VRoot_1.7.9.9730. I
used your V2 zip file. Had quite some missing directory warnings in the
terminal, propably because of some Vroot files/directories not being
present. Is a rerun with V1 recommended? I'll check later if I can find
any more entries of Vrootuser. Is there a thread somewhere about which
directories/files Vroot creates? Thanks & Good Luck!

  67. Will this remove kinguser? I was having trouble rooting my 802iv tv stick and started trying some chinese root programs. I should have done a little more research. Now I have a rooted device, but it has kinguser on it. I want SuperSU. Also, my antivirus keeps flagging 2 kinuser files as a virus. I looked it up and one of the exploits it found is a "call home". I'd rather keep my information on my device. Will this script help?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks MrW0lf for your scripts!

I have a M-HORSE N9000W, android 4.2.2, rooted with RomasterSU/iRoot/Kingroot, which install kinguser, and I would like to replace it. Normal SuperSU / superuser installation fail, and looking to your script, I have modified several lines. I would like to share them for review before testing ...

(First original, as comments with #, second replacement)

    #/system/bin/rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
    /system/bin/rm /system/app/Kinguser.apk

    #/system/bin/rm /data/app/com.mgyun.shun.apk
    #/system/bin/rm /data/app/com.mgyapp.android.apk
    /system/bin/rm /data/app/com.kingroot.kinguser-1.apk

    #/system/bin/rm -r /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su.daemon
    #/system/bin/rm -r /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su
    #/system/bin/rm -r /data/data/com.mgyunapp.android
    /system/bin/rm -r /data/data/com.kingroot.kinguser/

    #/system/bin/rm -r /data/data/com.mgyun.shua.su
    #/system/bin/rm -r /sdcard/android/data/com.mgyun.shua.su
    #/system/bin/rm -r /sdcard/mgyun
    #/system/bin/rm -r /sdcard/mgyapp
    #/system/bin/rm /data/dalvik-cache/data@app@com.mgyun.shua.su.apk.classes.dex
    /system/bin/rm /data@app@com.kingroot.kinguser-1.apk@classes.dex

More things checked in my model:

    root@android:/ #ls -l /system/etc/inst*
    lrwxrwxrwx root root 2015-01-21 01:37 install-recovery.sh -> /system/bin/install-recovery.sh
    -rw-r----- root root 85328 2014-12-23 16:30 install-recovery.sh-ku.bak
    lrwxrwxrwx root root 2015-01-21 01:37 install_recovery.sh -> /system/bin/install-recovery.sh

    root@android:/ #more /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
    #!/system/bin/sh

    /system/xbin/ku.sud -d &

    /system/etc/install-recovery-ku.sh
    /system/etc/install-recovery-kr.sh

Is the same content for /system/bin/install-recovery.sh

So I think I should add:

    /system/bin/rm /system/xbin/ku.sud
#Tested with strings this files are binaries related with kingroot
    /system/bin/rm /system/xbin/kugote

    /system/bin/rm /system/etc/install-recovery-ku.sh*

It is mandatory to install busybox if I have it already installed?

    Thanks in advance

If you prefer I can write in related XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532818, but I think is outdated as v2 script does not appear there.

Samsung Galaxy Mini S3 i8200: After doing this (unsuccessfuly), I re-root with Kingo Root, and everything is ok, winth SuperSU now (instead of King User)

    ReplyDelete
  80. I rooted my Nobis tablet with Root Genius and it left the Kinguser 3.3.6 app.
Could not remove it without loosing root and installing many versions of superSU just gave error, including the newest version.

I ran the script both v2 and v2.1 but it looks like there is a new version of the Kinguser app that anticipates the script.
the script removes the app but the tablet looses root access.

So here is what I did :P

    Rooted with Root Genius
then re-rooted with Kingo Root, it installed the superSu binary and can now update. Afterwards I removed the Kinguser 3.3.6 and the Kingo Root 1.3, now superSU works great.

so the solution is to Double Root

    -----TLDR-----
    Run with the chinese root
    root again with Kingo Root
run SuperSU, update and reboot tablet
SuperSu should be your default rooting app

Backup and/or remove the chinese SU app and Kingo Root app with Titanium or similar

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think that just un-roots most new phones. I believe they've figured of these tools so they just lock the phone. Nasty, but at least kinguser isn't that bad.
